|           ||Another batch that couldn't recirculate or sparge because of the adjuncts. This time it was 5 lbs, 7 oz of oatmeal. In the future..... only the liquid from the cereal mash goes into the main mash.||           |

The first new gadget I put together (a few weeks ago) was a dorm fridge jockey box. The 120 foot stainless steel coil, tap and fittings came from The Beverage Factory.
The only snag in construction is that to get the coil to fit in the fridge, I had to demolish the shelves on the inside of the door. That worked out well. The ledge on the bottom of the door that used to be the bottom shelf supports the weight of the coil.

So much has been happening! The brewery is almost rebuilt. The copper tubing with flare fittings for the propane system is leaking, but if that can be rectified tomorrow morning, then tomorrow is brew day!|
Earlier this week, at the homebrew store, I bought ingredients for Purple Haze. Well, except that there wasn't any Hallertauer or Tettnang, so I got Saaz and Willamette. I never found time to pick up the blue corn meal, so plans have changed. I've got a pound of roasted barley from the planned oatmeal stout that never materialized, so it's an outmeal stout. Well.... except that the yeast starter is White Labs Pilsner. So, it's a completely wacky black oatmeal lager thing with the wrong hops. Should be interesting....

|           ||Came home for lunch yesterday, and the trees had arrived, so I planted them. The Yarlington Mill is by the brewery, the Evereste is 10 feet South of that, and the Foxwhelp is across the yard (about 35 or 40 feet from the Evereste). The Foxwhelp spot might not get enough sun, since we already have a yard full of trees, but we'll see.||           |

Planted hop rhizomes on Saturday. Starting at the deck, they're in alphabetical order: Cascade, Hallertauer, Mt. Hood, Tettnang, Willamette.
Also followed up on the cider tree order from last month. It didn't go through! So, I tried again. They're out of Kingston Black, so it'll be 3 trees instead of 4. Foxwhelp, Yarlington Mill and Evereste crabapple.

|           ||It's been so long and much has happened. I was downsized. I moved into an apartment with no room to brew. But now things are looking promising for brewing again. The new house has a semi attached shed (it shares a roof with the garage) with electricity... i.e., a brewery!||           |

Pondering the next batch.|
Perhaps an oatmeal stout mashed in the fashion of American Light Lager. 4 lbs of oatmeal (someday I'll mellow out on the adjuncts), 4 lbs of 6 row, 4 lbs of 2 row. Roasted barley at the end of the mash.
Perhaps a kitchen sink of adjuncts... 12 grain?

|           ||Kegged the Purple Haze. It doesn't look purple at all. It looks like American light lager (in the racking cane... larger volumes might look a little darker).||           |

|           ||Back from vacation... The trees are leafy, the hops haven't really changed in the last 10 days, the lager is ready to be kegged.||           |
